Ethical approval for this study was obtained from the Department of Public Health– the University of Calabar Ethics Committee (UC/CMS/PUH/034), and the National Health Research Ethics Committee in Nigeria (NHREC) (NHREC/01/01/2007-08/03/2022). This study was funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Nigeria, which had no role in the data collection or reporting of the results. Informed written consent was obtained from all participants before participating in this study. In addition to written consent, verbal consent to participate was also obtained from participants who participated in the FGD sessions for this study. Participation was entirely voluntary, with respondents having the right to withdraw at any time without any consequences.
