: Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the Research Ethics Review Committee of the Oyo State Ministry of Health, Ibadan, Oyo State (Reference No: AD/13/479/3016 A ). Permission to conduct the study was obtained from the Ethics Committee of each facility as well as the matron in charge of the antenatal clinic in each facility. Verbal informed consent was obtained from each eligible participant prior to the commencement of data collection. The questionnaires were de-identified so that data collected could not be directly linked to any participant. Respondents were adequately informed that the study would be beneficial in improving the quality of AHE in their health facilities. No known harm was inflicted on participants because of their participation in this study.
