: Ethics approval: The mongoose sampling (conducted as a part of the gut microbiome study) was approved by Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), St. Kitts and Nevis (IACUC protocol # 17.04.13, dated 13 April 2017) and all methods were performed in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations and monitored by the RUSVM IACUC [ ]. In the present study, a total of 53 archival mongoose fecal samples were available in sufficient volumes for further analysis.
