Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Male and female 8- to 16 weeks old wild type and LAT2 (<i>Slc7a8</i>) KO (24) C57BL/6J mice were used (Charles River (Crl), Germany and in-house breeding). Animals were kept in standard cages under 12-h light/dark cycle (7:00 h/19:00 h) with free access to food and tap water. All animal experiments were conducted in accordance with the Swiss federal and cantonal law and performed with the approval of the Swiss Veterinary Council, Approval number 205/2016.
