Ethics approval and consent to participate
: At the beginning of the research, we established contact with authorities and persons of the communities, to whom we presented the study project, its aims and methods and asked their permit to conduct it. Then, we explained more detail and asked their consent to people who in the first step accepted to collaborate with us. All information obtained (written testimonies, audios, photography, plants measured in the field, and collecting of tissue samples of agaves for genetic studies) were previously asked to people and conducted only after their acceptance.
