: Ethical clearance for the research study was obtained from Stellenbosch University (DESC/Seele/Feb2015/1), South Africa and from the National University of Mongolia (17132015–17). In addition, ethical guidelines as stipulated by the International Society of Ethnobiology (2006) were strictly followed at all times. Interviews were only conducted if informed signed consent was given.
