Ethics approval and consent to participate

: Ethics approval was obtained from the Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Health ethics sub-committee at the University of Central Lancashire (project no. 276). All participants were provided with an information sheet. Those who took part in a face to face interview signed a consent form. Participants who took in a telephone interview were asked to provide verbal consent (audio or hand recorded), and the consent form was signed on their behalf. Survey completion was anonymous unless participants agreed/provided contact details to take part in a follow-up interview (health professionals/women who received targeted community support only). As the study was a service evaluation we did not require National Health Service ethics approval.

: All participants gave consent for study findings included anonymised quotes to be presented in publications.
