Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the institutional ethical committee of the Indian Institute of Public Health-Bhubaneswar. Necessary permission was obtained from the chief district medical officer (CDMO) of Sundargarh and the medical officer in charge of community health centres (CHC) in Bisra and Birkera. Participants were briefed about the study’s objective, potential benefits and potential harms. They were also informed that participation in the interview or study was purely voluntary and that they could withdraw from the interview process at any time. All the participants were allotted a code number for identification purposes and to conceal their identities. The study was carried out in a manner that ensured the maintenance of privacy and data confidentiality in every stage.
