: The implantation and the study protocols were approved by the institutional review board of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (EA2/057/09) and registered at the ‘German Clinical Trials Register’ (DRKS00000563). All patients gave written informed consent prior to participation in these studies, in which they agreed to implantation of the instrumented implants, in vivo load measurements and the publication of their images.
