: This is an institutional IRB-approved single-center retrospective cohort analysis of hospitalized adult patient characteristics and outcomes in cases where an axillary minimally invasive axial LVAD, the Impella 5.5® with SmartAssist® (Abiomed, Danvers, MA), was utilized for mechanical circulatory support over a period of one year. Consent was waived by the IRB board at our institution.
