Declarations
:
: No ethical approval or permission for animal experiments was needed for the fecal sample collection because the sampling was non-invasive (fecal samples after defecation), and the medicine used in the fenbendazole efficacy study was an OTC anthelmintic, which the owners could, in any case, have used for diagnosed infections without veterinary consultation. Participation was voluntary and the owners could withdraw from the study at any point without providing an explanation. We have an animal experiment permission for this study (ESAVI/45932/2021) which permits the collection of serum samples from infected animals. The collection of identification data was minimal. The owners were informed of data handling and storage with a privacy notice. The owners agreed to the data handling when filling out the questionnaire.
