Ethics approval and consent to participate

: The study protocol was ethically approved by the institutional review boards of the University of Birmingham (ERN_18–0083) and Queen’s University (6019042). Ethics approval was also obtained from the Congolese National Committee of Health Ethics (CNES). Local research clearance was requested in each city districts regional administrative centres. Verbal informed consent to participate was obtained and recorded before interviews were conducted. In addition, the consent of a parent or legal guardian was obtained for all PKFC.
