: For this study 23 patients with colorectal cancer were consecutively enrolled. Written informed consent was obtained from each patient on the day of the procedure. The methodologies complied with the standards set by the Declaration of Helsinki. This study was approved by the Institutional Ethical Board of CRO-IRCCS of Aviano (PN), Italy (IRB no. CRO-2014-03). The pathological features were retrieved from the Hospital database.All the preclinical studies were approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee of the CRO-IRCCS of Aviano and the Italian Ministry of Health (Project License: 148/2016 PR) and adhered to ARRIVE guidelines.
