Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The TraumaRegister DGU® is a voluntary registry. As a compulsory tool for quality assessment, no informed consent is necessary for data collection. Participation in TraumaRegister-DGU® and analysis of data are approved by the participants’ institutional ethical review boards. Institutional ethical review board agreement documents were not administered by TraumaRegister DGU®. Scientific data analysis is approved according to a peer-review procedure established by the Committee on Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care and Trauma Management (Sektion NIS) of the German Trauma Society. The TraumaRegister DGU® is approved by the review board of the German Trauma Society and is in compliance with the institutional requirements of its members. The present investigation has been approved and registered under DGU 2017–040 by the institutional review board of the TraumaRegisterDGU®.
