: The Rotterdam Study has been approved by the institutional review board (Medical Ethics Committee) of the Erasmus Medical Centre and by the review board of the Netherlands Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports. Renewal of approval has been conducted every 5 years. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants.The UK Biobank has approval from the North-West Multi-centre Research Ethics Committee (MREC) as a Research Tissue Bank (RTB) approval.
