: Ethical approval has been granted by the University of Oxford’s Social Sciences and Humanities Interdivisional Research Ethics Committee (Ref: R84601/RE002), University of Cape Town’s Centre for Social Science Research (Ref: CSSR 2023/03) and the Tanzanian National Institute for Medical Research (Ref: NIMR/HQ/R8a/Vol.IX/4218). The research team will seek informed consent from all prospective adult and adolescent participants to the study via written consent at each point of data collection.

: ParentApp was developed and implemented by members of the research team. JML is the CEO and LC is a voluntary trustee of Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH), a charity based in the United Kingdom and South Africa. JML also receives occasional fees for providing training and supervision for PLH programmes. Members of the research team have worked on other studies of PLH which contributed funding to their respective universities but not directly to them. The intellectual property of the intervention is owned by the developers of the original intervention as part of Parenting for Lifelong Health (i.e. Lucie Cluver, Jenny Doubt, Frances Gardner, Judy Hutchings, Jamie Lachman, Sibongile Tsoanyane and Catherine Ward) under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives and NonCommercial 4.0 International Public Licence. No profit or financial gain will be made from implementation and dissemination of the intervention. Several team members will be basing their masters, doctoral and post-doctoral research on this trial, as part of our commitment to capacity-sharing.
