: The InterCARE protocol, informed consent forms, participant information sheets, and education materials have been reviewed and approved by the University of Botswana (UB) institutional review board (IRB) and the Botswana MoH Health Research and Development Committee (HRDC) under reference HPRD6/14/1. Subsequent to this initial review and approval, both entities will review the protocol at least annually as part of continued review processes. The InterCARE protocol is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov under reference NCT05414526.The funder, the National Heart, Lung and Brain Institute (NHLBI), has appointed an independent data safety monitoring committee. The committee will review the InterCARE trial progress at least annually and will receive safety reports on an ongoing basis.
