: This study has been approved by the Swedish Ethical Review Authority (#2023-00747-01 and 2023-00747-02) and by the Committee Medical Ethics of ZOL (Genk, Belgium) and the Committee for Medical Ethics of Hasselt University (Hasselt, Belgium) (#B3712023000012). Written informed consent will be obtained by the assessors from all participants before study entry. No additional study, except for a potential 5-year follow-up on participants with COPD, that is not described herein, are currently planned. An additional signed informed consent must be obtained from every participant if data/biological specimens are to be used in an ancillary study, or additional follow-ups, when the ancillary data collection/request is not covered in the original informed consent. Participants in Hasselt, Belgium, will have the option to tick a box if they consent to their data or biological specimens being used in an ancillary study. The study will be carried out in accordance with the ethical principles laid down in the Declaration of Helsinki (1964).
