Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval for the study was given by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research Institutional Review Board (Accra, Ghana; CPN 077/13-14) and the research commission of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Basel, Switzerland; 122a). Verbal consent was obtained from CVCs for participation in the various mosquito sampling methods. Participation was voluntary and hence CVCs could withdraw anytime from the study. Albendazole and ivermectin were administered to CVCs before mosquito sampling commenced. Arrangement was also made with the community-based health planning and services (CHPS) in the various districts to provide treatment for CVCs who reported to their facilities and tested positive for malaria.
