Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study was approved by the Ifakara Health Institute Review board (Ref. IHI/IRB/EXT/No: 005 - 2018) and the Medical Research Coordinating Council at the Tanzanian National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) (Ref. NIMR/HQ/R.8c/Vol.II/880). Written and oral informed consent was obtained from all volunteers participating in this study, after being provided with all necessary information regarding goals, objective, benefits as well as risks associated with the study. In the field experiments, every house selected for mosquito sampling was provided with a new LLIN. Permission was also obtained from community leaders prior to starting the studies.
