: The study was carried out according to the Declaration of Helsinki Principles and all Tunisian pertinent regulations. The Ethics Committee of the High Institute of Biotechnology of Monastir (ISBM, Tunisia) validated the sampling procedures and the design of the study. Human serum samples were derived from a pre-existing collection of sera at the Tataouine Regional Hospital (Tunisia). The cyst samples from animals were collected during post-mortem examination, with the due consent of the veterinary officer, within the framework of governmentally regulated meat inspections in Tataouine slaughterhouses.
