: This study was incorporated into the study research protocol 16–027 by COUNTDOWN consortium who were granted ethical approval by Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), the University of Buea and Cameroon National Ethics Committee. Before collectors were trained for fly collection, the nature and objectives of the study were explained to them and informed consent was obtained from all collectors. Fly collectors were given a dose of ivermectin as prophylactic treatment against filariasis before fly collection and 3 months after fly collection.
