: The research permit for collecting freshwater snails and monitoring trematodes was granted by the National Animal Research Ethics Council of Zimbabwe (Contract No: 006/2020). There was a need to transfer specimens to Belgium for DNA analysis. As such, a memorandum of transfer was signed between Bindura University of Science Education, the University of Leuven, and the Royal Museum of Central Africa (RMCA) outlining proper use for research purposes and curation. To export the samples, we sought the permission of the National Biotechnology Authority of Zimbabwe (Permit No: BEP0009211, Reference No: NBA/RA/10/01–0921) in compliance with the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (). Further, permission to import the material into Belgium was granted to RMCA by the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Reference No: 2021DBP083).
