: This study was approved by the Xiangya School of Basic Medical Sciences, Central South University on 24 December 2017 (no. 201703489). The participants at schools received informed consent forms about the head lice examination from the teacher addressed to the parents/caretakers, which also emphasized the importance of the prevention and treatment of head lice. We are concerned about the psychological effects of infested students; the infested schoolchildren were treated and comforted by life teachers and psychology teachers in time or treated by a physician in the case of severe infection of head lice.
