Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne, Germany (study registration ID 15-215). Written informed consent was obtained from all participants, as well as from the living kidney donor for patient P29, prior to enrollment. Donor DNA from the kidney donor of P29 was collected directly from the donor. Donor DNA from the deceased kidney donor of P27 was analyzed from DNA banked for donor genotyping purposes at the Erlangen University Hospital Laboratory for Immunogenetics. The research in this study conforms to the Helsinki Declaration of ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects.
