Ethics approval and consent to participate

: The study (Protocol Number 11-2014) was approved by Ethics Board of School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University for Development Studies, Tamale. Written informed consent was obtained from the mothers before the administration of the questionnaire and screening for depression. The women were assured of anonymity and confidentiality of the study data. They were also informed that taking part in the study was voluntary and that they could withdraw at any time during the process if they felt uncomfortable.
