: The study protocol and informed consent procedure for the initial randomized controlled trial was approved by the Institutional Review Board of the College of Health Sciences, Mekelle University, Ethiopia. Written informed consent was obtained from each child’s parents and/or guardians. Children diagnosed positive for IPIs at follow‐up were treated with standard medication [CitationRef removed], and children with anaemia and/or diarrhoea were sent to the health facilities for further medical attention.
