The FHS was reviewed and approved by The Boston Medical Center Institutional Review Boards. The ALHS was approved by the Institutional Review Board at National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The KORA cohort ethical approval was granted by the ethics committee of the Bavarian Medical Association (REC reference numbers: F4: #06068, FF4: #06068), and all were carried out in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
