: This study clarifies how insomnia symptoms are associated with an elevated risk of anxiety, depression, and stress symptoms, with sex differences observed. DNA methylation of the CRY2 gene largely regulates this adverse effect, and such regulation is only significant in females. These results provide new insights into the monitoring of early anxiety, depression, and stress symptoms in females.
