: The YFS has been approved by the 1st ethical committee of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland and by local ethical committees (1st Ethical Committee of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland, Regional Ethics Committee of the Expert Responsibility area of Tampere University Hospital, Helsinki University Hospital Ethical Committee of Medicine, Research Ethics Committee of the Northern Thereafter, the Savo Hospital District, and Ethics Committee of the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District). All study methods of KORA were approved by the ethics committee of the Bavarian Chamber of Physicians, Munich and LURIC study was approved by the ethics committee of the State Chamber of Physicians of Rhineland-Palatinate. All participants of these studies have given informed consent, and the studies have been conducted according to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
