: We follow applicable international, national, and institutional guidelines for the care and use of animals. Experimental procedures performed in studies involving animals were approved by Nice university Animal care and use Committee, and the National Council on animal care of the Ministry of Health (Project n°: APAFIS#20495-201904231352370) in accordance with the guidelines established by the European community council (Directive of November 24th, 1986) and with the ethical standards and animal welfare committee of our institute.All procedures performed in studies involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical studies. Brain samples were obtained from the Brain Bank “Neuro-CEB” run by a consortium of Patients Associations: ARSEP (association for research on multiple sclerosis), CSC (cerebellar ataxias), and France Parkinson. The consents were signed by the patients themselves or their next of kin in their name, in accordance with the French Bioethical (agreement AC-2013-1887). Cases were anonymized but information was provided regarding sex, age at death, and neuropathology (Suppl.Table 1). Informed consent for tissue donation for research is obtained by the brain banks under their approval procedures.
