For animal studies, the protocol was approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at Stanford University (protocol ID: 33868; Project title: "Effect of parent MSCs and extracellular vesicles-derived MSCs in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)"; Assurance Number: A3213-01; Approval date: 01/20/2021). MSCs were purchased from StemBiosys that were obtained with prior ethical approval for the collection of human materials, with each donor signing an informed consent.
