: All animal experiments were conducted in accordance with the European Guidelines for Animal Welfare (Directive 2010/63/EU) and approved by the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (project title: Consolidation of subcutaneous transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells as a useful therapy for myocardial infarction, authorization nr. 390 approved on 10.07.2018). Human HL-60 and THP-1 cell lines were purchased from a well-established commercial vendor (ATCC). According to ATCC’s ethical sourcing policies, these cell lines were originally derived with informed consent from donors and collected following ethical approval.Human bone marrow MSCs were obtained from Floreasca Emergency Clinical Hospital, Bucharest, Romania. The original source has confirmed that there was an initial ethical approval for collection of human cells, and that the donors had signed informed consent. Within the framework of the research project “Targeting innate immune mechanisms to improve risk stratification and to identify future therapeutic options in myocardial infarction” these cells were used in experiments approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee of ICBP-NS (Approval number: 6; Date of approval: 16.11.2020).
