: The University Medical Center Groningen Central ethics Review Board non-WMO studies approved the conduct of the study (ref 202000037). The Dutch law on organ donation rules that people who give permission for organ donation, automatically also provide consent for transplantation-related research with their organs if an organ is discarded, unless the person explicitly objected. : JFWN is co-founder and scientific advisor of Quirem Medical B.V., which has been acquired by Terumo Europe NV in July 2020. The activities of JFWN within Quirem Medical B.V. are approved and supported by the Board of Directors of the Radboudumc. JFWN is entitled to certain milestone payments from Terumo Europe NV which are related to the financial, operational and regulatory performance of Quirem Medical B.V. in the future; AGA is a senior scientist at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies and is entitled to certain milestone payments from Terumo Europe NV which are related to the financial, operational and regulatory performance of Quirem Medical B.V. in the future. AGA is an inventor of a patent that is assigned to Quirem Medical B.V. related to particles comprising lanthanide hydroxides. The activities of AGA within the Radboudumc are approved and supported by Terumo; VEM reports a VENI research grant by the Dutch Research Council (ZonMW/NWO; grant #09150161810030), a Research grant from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (Health ~ Holland Public Private Partnership grant #PPP-2019–024), and a Research grant from the Dutch Society for Gastroenterology (NVGE #01–2021), all outside the submitted work; The other authors have no relevant financial or non-financial interests to disclose.
