: Ethic committee approval was not necessary because the PET/CT examinations were clinically indicated in this specific case and, with informed consent of the patient, were performed under direct supervision of a physician according to § 13, 2b of the Medicinal Products Act (Germany). As per national and international legislation, the preclinical bird embryo studies do not qualify as animal testing and therefore do not require approval []. Registration of the preclinical studies took place with the Office for Consumer Protection of the Thuringia State, Germany, registration number 22-2684-04-02-114/16.
