: This research followed the stringent guidelines and recommendations outlined by the People's Republic of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology in their Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. The experiments conducted were given approval by the Jiangsu Administrative Committee for Laboratory Animals (with corresponding permission numbers; SYXK-SU-2021–0027 for chickens, SYXK-SU-2022–0044 for mice, and SYXK-SU-2021–0026 for guinea pigs). Furthermore, the Institutional Biosafety Committee of Yangzhou University also validated the ethicality and guidelines compliance of the project, which complied with the Jiangsu Laboratory Animal Welfare and Ethics of the same administrative committee. Experiments involving live H10N3 viruses took place within animal biosecurity level-3 (ABSL-3) facilities, equipped with HEPA filters, and adhered to negative pressure isolators to ensure stringent control of biosafety, all of which fall in line with the institutional biosafety manual.
