: In accordance with the good veterinary practice, this trial was “[…] not likely to cause pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm equivalent to, or higher than, that caused by the introduction of a needle”, and was therefore not subject to Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council. In this open label field study, where all the subjects received the same treatment, owners had to give their written informed consent prior to any enrolment of their dog.
