: The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee of Bioethics Committee at Wroclaw Medical University (approval number KB-610/2016 dated 14.12.2016, extension approval number KB—685/2017 dated 02.11.2017).During the course of the study, the ROTEM guided hemostatic treatment protocol was implemented as the local standard of care. Patient consent was waived due to the observational character of the study. Nevertheless, as soon as their general condition became stable, patients in the study group were informed about the study and asked to provide written informed consent. In case of death, next of kin were contacted.
