: Postmortem human brain tissues from clinically diagnosed and neuropathologically verified donors with advanced PD were collected by the Netherlands Brain Bank (brainbank.nl). In compliance with all local ethical and legal guidelines, informed consent for brain autopsy and the use of brain tissue and clinical information for scientific research was given by either the donor or the next-of-kin. A reference to the published Code of Conduct for brain banking of BrainNet Europe (where NBB participated in) is provided in the text.
