: Human <i>Blastocystis</i> isolates were acquired from patients at the Singapore General Hospital in the early 1990s, before the Institutional Review Board was established at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The samples were anonymized and do not contain any patient identifiers. The animal experiments were performed according to the Singapore National Advisory Committee for Laboratory Animal Research guidelines. The protocol (R13–5890) was approved by the NUS Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
