: This study was carried out according to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, the ARRIVE guidelines and the 3Rs.The research protocol was approved by the Ethics Committees of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ICDC-2019015). All isolates from humans were collected as part of a standard clinical investigation of patients with diarrhea. These patients were anonymous and had signed an informed consent form. All animal samples used in this study were approved by the Research Animal Ethics and Ethical Committee of the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (2020-025). Written informed consent was obtained from the owners for the participation of their animals in this study. The <i>Yersinia</i> isolates used in this study were obtained from academic articles published in PubMed.
