: Ethical clearance for the initial data collection was obtained from the Ethics Commission of Northwest and Central Switzerland (EKNZ Reg–2017–00162), Tulane University (Study Number: 993573), Ifakara Health Institute IRB (IHI/IRB/No: 003-2017), and the Zanzibar Medical Research and Ethics Committee (ZAMREC/0001/February/17). Administrative permission was obtained in all study districts and sensitization meetings were done with community leaders (<i>Shehas</i>) in the study areas. Written informed consent was obtained from all participating individuals or adult caregivers of children prior to an interview and collection of blood samples. Assent was obtained from minors prior to collecting a blood sample. All personal data were anonymized by giving the participants unique software computer generated IDs and omitting all personal identifiers in the analysis databases.
