: All capture and handling procedures were approved by the Norwegian Experimental Animal Board (FOTS ID15947) and by the Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management (2014/14415). Our study met the ASAB/ABS Guidelines for the treatment of animals in behavioural research and teaching []. No individuals were injured during capture and handling, and they were all successfully released. All methods were performed in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations []. No short-term effects have been observed on the movement after tagging []. Body mass of dominant individuals have been observed to decrease with number of capture and handling events, but no statistically clear effects have been observed on survival or other body condition indices []. Number of capture and handling events was also observed to affect reproduction, but the population seemed habituated to repeated capture and handling in the long-term []. To minimize potential risks, the NBP prioritized capture and handling individuals that were necessary for the monitoring and experiments with clear objectives.
