: The study did not require approval by an ethics committee in Denmark. According to the Consolidation Act on Research Ethics Review of Health Research Projects, Consolidation Act number 1083 of 15 September 2017, section 14(2) notification of questionnaire surveys or medical database research projects to the research ethics committee system is only required if the project involves human biological material. However, the study conformed to the Helsinki Declaration. Prior to inclusion and following detailed oral explanation and written information potential participants gave their written informed consent for participation, pseudonymization, and follow-up contact. After the interview the participants were handed a distress management document with mental health emergency contact information and could give their written consent for receiving information on the outcome of the study.
