: The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the VA Bedford Healthcare System (Bedford, Massachusetts, USA) determined this project was a quality improvement project as per guidelines outlined in the VA handbook 1200.05. The need for continued IRB review and consent to participate in this pilot project were waived. All participants were verbally notified that a research team was working with the Healthcare for Reentry Veterans Program to evaluate outcomes associated with PIE peer support services.
