The study was granted ethical approval by the NHS Health Research Authority (Research Ethics Committee Wales REC 3) [16/WA/0216]; as well as the National Offender Management Service (now HMPPS) National Research Committee [2016 − 230]. Site level approval was granted by governors and healthcare providers at each establishment.
