: This study relies exclusively on tracking data from birds that were previously tagged as part of other research projects [e.g. , , , ]. All bird captures and tagging procedures were carried out with prior approval from the relevant national and regional authorities in Portugal and Spain, as originated in aforementioned studies. Tags were deployed by experienced researchers following the best practices and reducing the handling time as much as possible, in accordance with the recommendations of []. The devices used weighted less than 5% of the bird’s body mass, ensuring minimal impact on the animals.
