Ethics approval and consent to participate: We captured and fitted birds with GPS-GSM tags under appropriate British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) ringing permits, with Special Methods Technical Panel approved endorsements for the tagging methods described. Bird capture and tagging methods were approved by the GWCT and BTO’s Animal Welfare and Ethics Review Boards. All authors consent to participate in this study.
