: All animal experiments were carried out in accordance with the European Community Council Directive (2010/63/EU) for the care and use of laboratory animals and previously approved by the Responsible Organization for the Animals Welfare of the Faculty of Medicine and Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the University of Coimbra (ORBEA and FMUC/CNC, Coimbra, Portugal).Tissue from MJD patients and controls was obtained from the Neurology and Pathology Services, VA Medical Center, Albany Medical College, Albany, New York, NY, USA.
