: Patients and their unaffected relatives provided written informed consent. The study was approved by the Ethics Review Board of Helsinki University Hospital (number 195/13/03/00/11) according to the Declaration of Helsinki. The work on the patient carrying the <i>BVES</i> p.Q153X variant was approved by the ethical committee of the University of Giessen (AZ07/09, AZ258/16).
